Open access policy

The scientific magazine, Challenges of Science, is of open Access. It is available in Open Access without any temporary restrictions. In addition, it is found in the Directory of Open Access Journals – DOAJ.

Auto-file conditions: authors are allowed to reuse publications. That is, the post-print may be filed (or the final version post to the peer review, or the PDF version of the editor), with non-commercial purposes, including their deposits in institutional repositories, thematic or personal web pages.

Approach, object and scope of the journal

The scientific magazine, Challenges of Science, is a scientific publication, which is edited for the purpose of promoting the debating of scientific production in the field of Human and Social Sciences. The magazine is aimed at researchers, professors, students, and the community in general. All the members of the community previously mentioned may send in their articles in order for them to be evaluated and published without any cost. The magazine is not responsible of the criteria expressed by the authors and collaborators.

The scientific magazine, Challenges of Science, uses an external system of evaluation through peer review, with a double-blind review peer methodology in accordance with determined publishing norms of the American Psychological Association (APA). This guarantees a demanding, objective, unbiased, and transparent revision process. This in turn leads to facilitating a publication, its inclusion in scientific data base, repositories, and international indexations.

The scientific magazine, Challenges of Science, puts into the consideration of the community, the following terms related with the publications.

This magazine is an editorial service, which is exclusive property of Community Development and Management Foundation Ecuador-FUGDECE.

This institution has the ministerial approval, number 3073, August 16, 2004. It is a magazine with non-cost distribution; therefore, the institution conserves the copyright of the published articles. In this way, it favors and allows the reutilization of the before mentioned under the Creative Commons Reconocimiento-No-Comercial-Sin Obra Derivada 3.0 Ecuador license. This is the reason why it may be copied, used, transmitted, spread and exposed publically following hereby mentioned requirements.

  1. Mandatory citation of the authorship and original source of its publication according to internationally acknowledged norms.
  2. None of the works published in the Scientific Journal Challenges of Science may be used for commercial purposes.
  3. The specifications and existence of this license must be mentioned.
  4. Authorship: only the authors that have made an intellectual contribution to any of the pieces of research may be mentioned in the list of authorship. Only having been part of data collection is not sufficient reason itself to be granted with the right authorship. The scientific magazine, Challenges of Science is not to be held responsible for any types of conflicts, which may be derived from the authorship of the works published.

All the rights of the scientific magazine, Challenges of Science, are property of the Community Development and Management Foundation Ecuador-FUGDECE, which has its headquarters in the city of Quito, Republic of Ecuador.

History of the magazine

The Foundation for Community Management and Development; Ecuador (FUGDECE), is a non-profit private law institution created by Ministerial Agreement 3073, August 16, 2004. It is located in the City of Quito and has the jurisdiction to establish offices and develop projects in other places of the country, with the purpose of contributing to the debate and the diffusion of scientific knowledge in the field of Social Sciences. It established the creation of the Scientific Journal Challenges of Science on January 16, 2017. As of the date of its creation, the magazine counts on the contribution of recognized national and foreign scholars who commit their honored collaboration as Scientific Council, Editors, External Reviewers, Translators and Technical Council. Within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement between FUGDECE and the Multidisciplinary Center for Studies and Educational Research (CEMEI) of the city of El Rosario-Argentina, signed on July 21, 2017, the magazine is strengthened, as it reaches the cooperation of such distinguished international academic recognition. The agreement was signed by Marcelo Castillo Bustos, Ph.D. (Executive Director of FUGDECE) and Dr. Gerardo Kahan (Director of CEMEI). Currently, the magazine has the participation of academics from Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela, Niger, Mexico, Peru and France.

The Scientific Journal Challenges of Science is permanently strengthened through responsible work, meets the standards established by the International Center for Registration of Serial Publications, and is submitted for evaluation by the respective state portfolio and receives the ISSN Code 2602- 8247, which facilitates its indexing in international databases.
